Chavez Discussed with Lukashenko Elections in Venezuela

On Saturday, September 25, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called his Belarussian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko. During the phone talk, the Venezuelan leader informed the president of Belarus on the current political situation in Venezuela and the election campaign in terms of parliamentary elections, scheduled for September 26.

The Head of State wished the Venezuelan leader success in realization of his future plans for the political and socio-economic development of the country, the press service of Alexander Lukashenko reported.

The Head of Venezuela, in his turn, asked about the situation in Belarus on the threshold of presidential elections in the country and expressed his support for the actions of the Belarusian leadership for their preparation.

The two Presidents also discussed the implementation of the most important bilateral agreements reached at the Summit. Hugo Chavez confirmed his readiness to visit Belarus in the nearest future, where, according to the agreement, the entire range of bilateral issues will be considered in detail.

A number of topical issues on the international agenda were touched upon during the conversation as well.
