Chavez Ready to Supply 4,2 Million Tons of Oil Per Year to Belarus

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez after the first day of negotiations with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko said that Venezuela will supply to Belarus oil of 80 thousand barrels per day (about 4,1-4,2 million tons per year). "We reaffirmed our readiness to support Belarus in the energy sector and in the next few hours to sign the agreement on oil supplies", — said the leader of the South American country. 

It is expected that oil supplies to Belarus will start in May and it will be delivered not for interior needs, but for processing and subsequent sale in Europe, «Nasha Niva» reports.

According to Hugo Chavez, official visit of President of Belarus to Venezuela will give to cooperation of the two countries new impetus needed due the world economic crisis. «Our countries know how to move forward, how to give further impetus to our development model, based on socialism, independence, sovereignty and the multipolar world» — said Chavez.

First vice-premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko and the Special Envoy for Relations with Venezuela, Viktor Sheimann were involved in preparation of the agreements. However, the price of future oil supply is disclosed.

As previously reported by Telegraf, Belarus and Venezuela agreed on gasification of the Venezuelan towns and villages. Over the next year we will build in Venezuela three or four plants for the production of tractors, cars, heavy trucks, a large brick factory, which can produce 100 thousand tons of bricks.

«We agreed on all issues,» — stressed Alexander Lukashenko, noting that in the near future, two leaders will visit the building sites, will open new oil fields and new settlements.
