General Prosecutor's Office sent to the Minsk City Court a criminal case of the former head of the investigative department of financial investigations of the State Control Committee of Belarus, Gennady Gaponenko. The investigation against the chief financial investigator of the SCC lasted almost a year.
Gennady Gaponenko was arrested on July 6 last year on charges of abuse of power, Ezhednevnik informs.
In General Prosecutor’s Office explained that the former chief financial investigator is accused under three articles of the Criminal Code: abuse of power or official authority, committed by official, holding senior post, acceptance of a bribe in large scale and fraud, committed in large scale.
The information about the investigation is not disclosed, but it’s know that almost all the case associated with ancient friend of Gennady Gaponenko, a businessman, to whom the chief investigator of the department of financial investigations of the SCC has provided various services by his work over the years , including assistance in avoiding criminal prosecution.
