CIS Economic Court took to examine the claim of Belarus to Russia on Russia's unreasonable imposition on January 1 of duties on petroleum products and crude oil supplied to Belarus. According to the court's regulations, the date of trial on this case should be fixed at the executive court session no later than 30 days after the claim taken for consideration.

As Telegraf previously reported, Economic Court informed on April 21 that the claim of the government of Belarus to the Russian government regards the «violation of international agreements on free trade and Customs Union within the Eurasian Economic Community in connection with the introduction of duties on oil products exported in Belarus from the territory of Russia».

Before filing a claim to the Court, Ministry of Justice explained that the essence of the claim is that «signed agreements within the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Community and the international agreements between Russia and Belarus provide duty-free trade in free trade regime».

In Ministry of Justice gave as an example the intergovernmental Belarusian-Russian agreement on free trade on November 13, 1992 and the protocol on the introduction of free trade without exceptions and limitations between Belarus and the Russian Federation on January 6, 1995.

«The only exception from the regime of free trade is crude oil, some part of which is subjected to export duties under a special bilateral agreement. Mutual trade of all other goods should be duty-free», concluded in Justice Ministry of Belarus.
