Belarus will agree to create a joint venture with Russia to export electricity to the future Belarusian nuclear power plant only if it meets the national interests of the country. This was stated by the Deputy Energy Minister of Belarus Mikhail Mikhadzyuk on October 14.

The deputy head of Energy Ministry said that the parties are currently consulting on this issue and trying to figure out if it matches their vision of the joint venture, BelTA informs.

Michael Mikhadzyuk also noted that the establishment of a joint venture is not considered by Russia as an immediate condition for granting a construction loan to Belarus for NPP creation.

«It’s not the case for the loan from the Russian part. No, I’m not saying that they are willing to venture without a loan, it is just not regarded now as a condition for grunting a loan. Today, the issue is being discussed in the framework agreement on our power systems parallel operation,» Deputy Energy Minister of Belarus said.
