Council of Ministers Banned Export of Rapeseed and Flax from Belarus

The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus introduced a temporary ban on the export of rapeseed oil, rapeseed and flax by its decree № 285 of March 9, 2011. As it became known to Telegraf, the ban will be effective from March 16, 2011 to September 16, 2011. This was reported in the press service of the Belarusian government.

The ban applies to the export of ground and non-ground rapeseed (colza), and flax, refined and non- refined rapeseed, as well as mustard oils and their fractions, but not chemically modified.

In this regard, the Council of Ministers instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to notify the Commission of the Customs Union on the introduction of the ban and to submit to the Commission a proposal to apply similar measures in other member-states of the Customs Union.
