Customs Code of the Customs Union Enters into Force in Belarus

On Tuesday, July 6, the Customs Code of the Customs Union started to be applied in Belarus. On the territory of Russia and Kazakhstan, the document was enacted on July 1. Thus, from July 6 between the three member-states of the Customs Union there formed common customs territory.

As Telegraf previously reported, respective decision was assigned in a joint statement of the leaders of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan, adopted at Astana summit on July 5.

As Belarusian Vice-Premier, Andrei Kobyakov, reported, from July 6 Russia would carry out the customs clearance and customs control at the border with Belarus only to some tens of items of goods, which are included in exemptions from the regime of common customs territory. Earlier, the Russian side realized customs control in respect of more than 11.7 thousand of goods, transported through Belarus from third countries, BelTA informs.

«Any goods, imported into the territory of the Customs Union and put into free circulation, can move freely across all borders of the Union without any control and customs clearance. That means, Belarus can organize assembly production and trade these products freely on the territory of the Customs Union», deputy head of Belarusian government stressed.

Belarus gets an additional source of investment, Kobyakov

Furthermore, as Andrei Kobyakov explained, from July 6, there become valid throughout the Customs Union’s territory certificates and research reports, issued by Belarusian authorities, for compliance with technical requirements of products in the field of technical regulations, sanitary, veterinary, phytosanitary control.

According to Vice-Premier of Belarus, free movement of goods across the Customs Union’s territory with a few exceptions is «a major step forward» and «it will create conditions for additional formation of investment in the country».

These benefits are very important and essential for our economic development, and the decision on the enactment of the Customs Code will ensure that we get more active and sustainable socio-economic development», deputy head of Belarus’ government declared.
