Deposits of Belarusians Increased by 9.2% for Two Months

Deposits of the Belarussian population in national and foreign currency have increased by 9.2% or Br2.1 trillion ($700 million) for January-February 2011, having risen up to Br25 trillion ($8.3 million) by March. This was reported by the National Bank of Belarus.

Deposits in national currency increased by Br749.2 billion or $248 million (7.4%) in February, in foreign currency — $105.8 million (2.3%). In early March, deposits of the Belarusians in national currency amounted to about Br10.9 trillion ($3.6 billion), in foreign currency — about $4.7 billion in equivalent.

In general, individuals’ deposits increase of Br6.4 — 7.2 trillion ($3.1-3.4 billion) is planned in 2011.
