Devaluation of Ruble to Currency Basket Amounted to 71.62% since Early Year

The devaluation of Belarusian ruble to a basket of currencies amounted to 71.62% since January 1, 2011, while only for the last night of May 23-24 — to 54.42%. The projected depreciation of the ruble to a basket of currencies, estimated by the country's central bank for 2011, was to be within 7-8%.

The official rate of Belarusian ruble to a basket of currencies amounted to Br1.81 and Br4.93 to the dollar. Thus, the devaluation of the ruble against the dollar has amounted to 64.33% since the year’s beginning, and 56.26% — over last night.

With the official euro exchange rate of Br6.91, the devaluation of the national currency has amounted to 74.06% since January 1, 2011, and 53.11% — since May 23.

The devaluation of the Belarusian ruble against the Russian ruble since the beginning of the year is equal to 76.71%, last night — 53.91%. May 24, National Bank set the Russian ruble at Br173.95.
