Directions of Scientific and Technical Activity for 2011-2015 Are Defined in Belarus

On July 22 the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, signed a decree № 378, which defines priority directions of scientific and technical activity in Belarus for 2011-2015. "In the vast majority, these areas are of life-supporting nature to increase the level and quality of life of the country's population and its national security", the press service of Belarusian leader informs.

In particular, in next five years, financial and human resources will be concentrated in such areas as energy sector and energy saving technologies; agro-industrial technologies and production; industrial and construction technologies and production; medicine, medical equipment and technologies; pharmacy; chemical technology, nanotechnology and biotechnology; information and communications and aerospace technologies; new materials; rational nature management, resource-saving and protection from emergencies; national security and defense.

«This decision is aimed to ensure the orientation of scientific and technical activity to implement projects of creation of new economy sectors with high added value, low energy and material costs of products, what will help to intensify the development of national economy and increase welfare of the population», noted in the Administration of Alexander Lukashenko.
