Dollar Exchange Rate Reached Br20 Thousand in Latvian Bank

One of the few commercial banks in Latvia, Norvik Banka, still converting Belarusian ruble, set FX rate at Br20.4 thousand per dollar on May 26. The euro exchange rate was set at the level of Br28.4 thousand. The bank operates solely with cash.

Another Latvian bank, SEB banka, is ready to sell dollars at the rate of Br9.110 — Br9.190 per dollar. Purchasing dollar price equaled to Br3.956.35 there on May 26.

Meanwhile, according to Telegraf, most banks in Belarus’s neighboring countries, where it was previously possible to exchange the Belarusian rubles into other currencies, ceased to quote Belarusian national currency.

Thus, the Latvian Rietumu Banka, which was ready to carry out foreign exchange transactions with non-cash Belarusian currency at the rate of Br7.000 per dollar (€9.882) on Monday, May 23, gave up any transactions with both cash and non-cash Belarusian rubles on May 24.

Meanwhile, Belarus’s National Bank dollar rate amounted to Br4.932 on 26 May. The ruble has weakened against the dollar by 0.02% compared with May 25. The ruble, by contrast, has risen by 0.18% against the euro, totaling Br6.921.08 per euro. The national currency of Belarus has become stronger by 0.13% against the Russian ruble; making Br173.18 per Russian ruble.
