Dollar has reached a point of Br6 thousand in the OTC market, while the market was opened with quotes of Br5.5-5.6 thousand per dollar in the morning on May 13. In turn, analysts note that this is not an endpoint.

However, according to the chairman of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, Sergei Balykin, the rate of the Belarusian currency will continue to decline unless the country initiates the needed economic reforms, AFN.

As Telegraf previously reported, after the abolition by the Belarusian National Bank of restrictions on currency exchange rate for sales to people, all commercial banks carried out an actual devaluation of the Belarusian ruble by about 30% by the morning of May 12. Nevertheless, the National Bank didn’t lift its restrictions fully and strongly recommended commercial banks to hold Br4000 dollar rate, not higher.

As it became known to Telegraf from a source in banking circles, Belarusian commercial banks are ready to set Br5000 dollar rate in the event of cancellation by the National Bank of its last recommendation.
