Dollar to Rise to Br3.133 by the Year's End, Government

The Government of Belarus expects the dollar rise up Br3.133 by the end of 2010. Now the dollar is sold for Br3.011 in Belarus (against Br2.863 on December 31, 2009). Thus, the Belarusian ruble, having fallen by 5.2% down since the beginning of 2010, is going to fall further by 4.1% for the remaining two months. 

The overall ruble-to-dollar devaluation will amount to 9.4% over the year, AFN.

Such a conclusion can be drawn from preliminary estimates of the Government, whereby the average salary will increase to Br1.576 million or $503 in Belarus by the end of 2010.

According to Telegraf, such a statement was announced by the Government on October 28. The annual wage growth has been fixed in Belarus since 1996. The real wages of Belarusians increased in 4.9 times during this time. For comparison, real wages increased in 2.5 times in Russia, Kazakhstan — 3.1 times, in Ukraine — in 2.7 times over the past 15 years, the government added.
