Press Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Andrei Savinykh has said that the program of the European Union "Eastern Partnership" is "emasculating and losing its appeal today." "After more than two years of talk we do not see any tangible progress," stated the spokesman.

«We hope that the organizers will have enough political will to bring the case to a logical conclusion, based on the declared principles. Otherwise, our concerted efforts will be wasted,» said Andrei Savinykh.

Nevertheless, according to a representative, Belarus keeps on trying to «direct a common effort in the mainstream of constructive engagement» at the political level. MFA spokesman has noted that Belarus has reacted very positively towards the idea of »Eastern Partnership,» as this EU program could become «an effective tool for its member-states, the EU and CIS countries,» BelTA informs.

«We are actively involved in the process of priorities’ agreement for cooperation and development of concrete project proposals. The emphasis is made solely on projects of interest to all parties,» the representative of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

However, as Telegraph previously reported, the European Union will launch a new regional investment project East Invest at a conference in Brussels on March 31. The aim of the new project is the development of economies of the program «Eastern Partnership» member-countries (Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine). The project budget will amount to €8.75 million.
