Economy Ministry Transmitted a New Liberalization Plan to the President's Administration

Belarusian Ministry of Economy transmitted to the Administration of Alexander Lukashenko a new actions plan to further liberalization of the economy. It was told on May 21 by the deputy head of Ministry of Economy, Anatoly Filonov, at a seminar for Belarusian parliamentarians dedicated to support and development of small and medium business.

According to the ministry representative, a new plan includes measures to improve the mechanisms of state property privatization, reduce the list of activities requiring licenses from 53 to 38, as well as possibility to limit the sphere of state regulation of prices, BelTA informs.

In addition, the economy ministry transmitted to the presidential administration the proposal on the Decree № 4. «Thanks to the liberalization measures it is planned to increase the share of small and medium business in the GDP to 30% (last year they took 11.4%) by 2015», Anatoly Filonov said.

According to Ministry of Taxes and Duties, now in Belarus there accounted more than 80.6 thousand small business entities (legal entities). Comparing with the same period of last year their number increased by 14.5% and since the beginning of the year — by 2.5%. In the area of small business in 2009 there worked 20.4% of people involved in economy. In 2009, small business entities produced 9.1% of total industrial production (8.4% in 2008).
