Economy Will Grow Rapidly Again This Year, Tur

Deputy Economy Minister of Belarus, Andrei Tur, considers it possible to recover high economic growth rates, observed before the crisis, in 2010. Deputy Economy Minister said about it on May 14, at Belarusian-Vietnamese business forum held in Minsk.

«In general, the tendency of deceleration (of macroeconomic parameters growth — Telegraf) is being overcome. There is a number of important promising changes, and it allows us to build ambitious plans for 2010. We expect Belarusian economy in the current year to be able to restore high growth rates inherent in pre-crisis period», BelTA quotes deputy minister.

According to Andrei Tur, ministry of economy can make such optimistic forecasts due to GDP growth by 6.1% (comparing with the same period of 2009) in the first four months of this year and about the same growth of industrial production.

Moreover, deputy economic minister underlined that «there has been active process of economy reforming and liberalizing» in the country. To confirm his words, Andrei Tur said that for this purpose the government adopted 56 laws and abolished 22 tax payments in 2009, it’s also planned to reduce the number of licensable activities by approximately 60%.

In addition, according to deputy minister, in Belarus there have changed approaches to privatization, which resulted it become a way of attracting strategic investors to the country’s economy, there is a work on the liberalization of pricing and improvement of control activity.
