Belarus and Georgia to Create a Commission on Economic Cooperation

The government of Belarus has decided to hold negotiations on a draft agreement with Georgia. It is planned that during the signing of this agreement there will be created an intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, reported in Belarus' Council of Ministers.

This project will become the basis for posterior negotiations. Belarusian Minister of Trade, Valentin Chekanov, is authorized to hold the talks and to sign necessary documents while reaching an agreement within approved project, BelTA informs.

According to Georgia Embassy to Belarus, in recent years, economic cooperation between the two countries is developing actively. This is evidenced by indicators of trade turnover, which doubled. In 2009, trade turnover between Belarus and Georgia amounted to 45 million dollars. The Georgian side is interested in purchasing Belarusian dairy products, products of agricultural industry, MAZ machinery. In their turn, world-famous Georgian wines and mineral water are in great demand in Belarus.
