The formation of polling stations was completed two months before the presidential election in Belarus on October 17. According to the secretary of the Central Elections Commission Nikolai Lozovik, the number of polling stations constantly varies due to both the demographic changes in the country and the changes in the administrative-territorial division.

For example, some regions and cities were combined after the previous presidential election in 2006. However, the same requirements are previewed by the law for all areas, which is at least 20 voters, BelTA informs.

As soon as polling stations have formed, the creation of precinct election commissions will start, as well as the nomination of representatives to be included in the commissions. Each polling commission may include from 5 to 19 people. At the same time there’s an exception for the commissions, being formed abroad.
