EU Ambassador to Appear in Belarus

EU ambassador is to appear in Belarus in near future. The competition for the post, which was announced by the European Commission, takes place. Filing with the contest ended on September 10. The internal procedures for assessing candidates are being carried on in Brussels now, the EU representative office in Belarus informs.

As it’s noted, not only the officials of the Council of the European Commission and EU, but diplomats from European Union countries as well had possibility to take part in the competition, BelTA informs.

Now the EU representation in Belarus is headed by Jean-Eric Holzapfel, Charge d’affaires of the EU,. Decision to appoint Ambassador is connected with the coming into force of the Lisbon Treaty and the formation of the European External Action Service.
