It is absolutely impossible and morally wrong for the European Union and Russia to make the decisions concerning Belarus underhand of Belarusians, without their direct participation. It was stated at a meeting of the Belarusian oppositional leaders with Stefan Fule, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy.

As Sergey Kalyakin, chairman of the Party «Fair world», who participated in the meeting, informed, oppositional figures had paid attention that considering the last publications and film broadcast on NTV channel the attitude of the Russian authorities to the situation in Belarus had changed and it was necessary for EU to use it. In turn, Stefan Fule took sceptical view to that proposal, having stated that nothing essential had happened and that the attitude of Russia hadn’t become a long-term strategy directed on changes of the situation in Belarus, BelaPAN informs.

The eurocommissioner informed on another proposal to get moving relations between Belarus and EU. «It is an act of goodwill of the European Union. However it will be conditioned by the clear message to the Belarusian government that EU doesn’t intend to advance the relations and to give benefits unilaterally, and its wants equal interest and concessions of both parties», Sergey Kalyakin said.

At the meeting the parties discussed also the current situation with the human rights in Belarus, political prisoners in the country, presidential election in the absence of conditions for their democratic carrying out, development of EU relations not only with the Belarusian government, but also with the civil society, UDF site informs.

Besides, the participants of the meeting discussed facilitation of visa regime for Belarusians. According to the leader of the Belarusian leftists, the eurocommissioner understands importance of facilitation of entrance to EU «out of the contexts of all other agreements of the European Union with Belarus». «The eurocommissioner will do his best to solve the issue . But it is difficult, as 27 EU countries should support the decision», the oppositional politician amplified.

Except Sergey Kalyakin, at the meeting with the eurocommissioner there were the ex-presidential candidate Alexander Kozulin, the head of «Za Svabodu» Movement Alexander Milinkevich, the leader of campaign «Tell the truth!» Uladzimir Niakliajeu, the vice-chairman of the Unite Civil Party Yaroslav Romanchuk, the co-chairman of organising committee of «Belarusian Christian Democracy» Vital Rymasheuski, the co-ordinator of «Charter-97» Andrei Sannikov, the chairman of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (National Assembly) Mikola Statkevich, chairman of the BPF Party Alaksiej Janukievic.
