On June, 22nd, the Eurocommission made a decision to convoke emergency meeting in connection with the gas conflict between Belarus and Russia, Marlene Holzner, spokesperson of Gunther Oettinger, European Commissioner for Energy, informed. In the meantime Moscow assured Bruxelles that it would execute the contract on gas delivery to the European consumers, despite transit blocking by Minsk.

«The Russian side assured us that it would carry out the contract obligations. If Belarus really intended to take gas from Yamal gas pipeline, which delivers gas only for EU, Russia would deliver gas through Ukraine to Poland and Germany», Marlene Holzner said, RIA Novosti informs.

As Telegraf informed, on June, 22nd, the President of Belarus stated at the meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov that he disposed to block transit of the Russian gas to Europe through the Belarusian territory.

According to the Belarusian leader, such decision is made in connection with debts nonpayment by Gazprom for gas transit at a rate of 260 million dollars which were accumulated from the beginning of this year.

In turn, the Russian gas holding reduced of the amounts of gas delivery to Belarus by 30 % in the morning on June, 22nd. The representatives of Gazprom explained that this step was made, because Belarus didn’t carry out contractual obligations on gas delivery in 2010, what caused debt occurrence for the delivered gas at the rate about 190 million dollars.
