EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Catherine Ashton said that Brussels "should act decisively" against the Belarusian authorities. This is stated in the response of the European diplomacy head to the letter of the head of the Committee on International Relations of Lithuanian Seim, Emmanuelisa Zingeris, about the situation in Belarus.
Catherine Ashton has again expressed concern about the actions of the official Minsk and has «rigidly condemned the repression» of the opposition parties, civil society and journalists by the Belarusian authorities, reports IA Regnum.
In addition, according to Emmanuelis Zingeris, the EU High Representative has demonstrated the full approval of the initiatives of Lithuania to support the Belarusian civil society and democratic forces in that country.
