Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus has responded to a conference "Solidarity with Belarus," held in Warsaw on February 2. The West has pledged $ 87 million to the Belarusian opposition. "The actions of our European colleagues cause serious confusion," said Head of Information Ministry of Belarus Andrei Savinykh.

«First of all, this event cannot be called conference for Belarus. It goes without participation of the legitimate representatives of Belarus and without consideration of the country’s official position. Thus, this event is being organized to support individual marginal social groups in Belarus, not supported by the Belarusian society,» said spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

According to him, the Warsaw conference is «openly provocative,» as «a policy of «artificial cultivation» of the civil society from outside without dialogue with the legitimate authorities is a failed and dangerous policy.»

«The experience of such social experiments clearly confirms that they lead to chaos and destabilization only, as well as proves blatant irresponsibility of their leaders,» said Andrei Savinykh.

Warsaw Conference — just Window Dressing, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus

In addition, according to the press secretary of Belarusian Foreign Ministry, such actions are «directly and unequivocally contrary to the international law and the UN Charter,» while «haste and window dressing,» used when arranging this event, prove that the organizers «use the current situation solely as a tool to promote their own political ambitions, disregarding good neighborly relations among our countries.»

«It seems to us, the conference organizers are also seeking to maximize the financial resources for their own ideological and propaganda structures,» Head of Information Ministry of Belarus added.

As Telegraf previously reported, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said at the international donors’ conference «Solidarity with Belarus» on February 2 that Belarus would receive €87 million from all the participating countries, while €1.7 million would be allocated to help the affected oppositionists and their families, as well as the media.
