Euro Sold Out in Minsk Currency Exchange Offices

On Monday morning, the EU adopted a plan to rescue the euro and after that in Belarus there appeared high demand to buy European currency. This Monday in Belarus is day off, so the National Bank has not had time to respond to euro increase. Currency exchange rates in exchange offices have not changed since Friday.

In exchange offices near the railway station and Nezavisimosti Square in Minsk, in the morning of May 10, there was already no euro, Nasha Niva informs. The maximum amount could be found is 50 euro.

As Telegraf previously reported, on Friday, May 7, the National Bank set euro rate at 3.810 rubles. In general, for two days on May 7-8, euro fell by 100 rubles at the time, breaking the annual anti-record.

On Monday morning, it became known that the finance ministers of the European Union agreed to establish a pan-European crisis fund sized by 750 billion euro. The European Commission is going to attract loans equal to 60 billion euro, bilateral funding for the euro zone countries will amount to 440 billion euro. Additional amount of up to 250 billion euro will be contributed by the International Monetary Fund.
