The first meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the EU Eastern Partnership (Euronest), scheduled for March, will take place without the participation of the Belarusian delegation. This decision of the Conference of Presidents of political factions was announced by the European Parliament Chairman Jerzy Buzek.

EP President said that the decision to start Euronest without representatives of Belarus was taken unanimously on February 10, PAP.

«I hope this is only a transitional state, not a final decision. Parliamentarians from Belarus are welcome, but only when free elections, acknowledged by the whole world, become reality. We need to see the democratic process,» said Jerzy Buzek.

Nevertheless, as the head of the European Parliament, Europe is going to continue supporting the Belarusian civil society, despite the steps, taken, said Busek.

Meanwhile, as Telegraf previously reported, the Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the EU Eastern Partnership (Euronest) decided to start its work without the participation of representatives of Belarus on January 26.

Earlier, the European Parliament offered Minsk to change the traditional composition of the delegation to attend the Euronest and send a mixed delegation — five representatives from both the parliament and non-parliamentary opposition. The Parliament of Belarus didn’t agree on such conditions, insisting on equal participation in Euronest. Other member-countries of the Eastern Partnership «include 10 members of national parliaments in their delegations.»
