Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus considers that the joint statement of the Heads of Governments of Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic made on February 15 at the summit on the 20th anniversary of the Visegrad Four, is a plagiarism. According to the MFA Press Secretary Andrei Savinykh, European Premieres essentially duplicated the EU statement.

«We see this statement as a mere replica of the EU Council’s recent conclusions by a number of EU member states. Our stance on the issue outlined as a response to the EU conclusions has been made known,» — said Andrei Savinykh.
According to the representative of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus, such statements are «in conflict with the spirit of partnership and neighbourhood».
As Telegraf informed, the Heads of Governments of Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia expressed their concern about the falsifications in the presidential election in Belarus, and urged the authorities to release immediately all the detained opposition members and to provide «rehabilitation of all political prisoners».
Meanwhile, similar requirements are contained in the final document of the EU resolution on Belarus, adopted on January 31 by Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the EU. The EU imposed sanctions against a number of representatives of the Belarusian authorities until all the participants of the protest on December 19 would have been released. EU also demands to reform the Electoral Code of Belarus, to make the progress in the field of freedom of expression, media freedom, freedom of assembly and association.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus received the decision of the Council of the European Union to impose sanctions on the Belarusian leadership with regret. An official Foreign Ministry statement of January 31 notes that Belarus has to «take proportionate and appropriate measures to aim at strengthening the sovereignty of Belarus.» However, Belarus has not yet imposed any sanctions against the EU.
