Everyone's Healthy and Has No Complaints in KGB Jail, Prosecutor General's Office

Prosecutor General of Belarus checked the conditions of opposition detainees, participants of the rally on December 19, which are currently in remand prison of the KGB. The Prosecutor General's Office announced that all detainees, including the former presidential candidates, were healthy and had no complaints about conditions in prison.

As it became known to Telegraf, the check had been initiated by the relatives of detainees and carried out by the staff of the General Prosecutor’s Office on December 31, 2010.

«The checking’s found out that the detention regime of these persons is in compliance with regulatory requirements of the KGB jail. According to the finding, all the detainees are healthy. They are provided with the access to lawyers and relatives; they also receive parcels in the established manner. Additional physicians, who are on duty around the clock, provide them with skilled medical care,» in a statement of the Prosecutor General said.

However, the Prosecutor’s Office did not specify the degree of compliance of the normative documents’ requirements of the KGB jail with the Belarusian legislation, including requirements for ensuring the minimum social standards.
