Ex-Speaker of Belarus Parliament Summoned to Prosecutor on Case of Terrorist Attack

Former chairman of the Supreme Soviet of Belarus Myechyslau Hryb was summoned to the prosecutor of Minsk on April 22. According to Myechyslau Hryb, prosecutor called him out on the phone in connection with the case of Minsk subway explosion. The former head of the Supreme Council is planning to go to the prosecutor without a lawyer. He said that he wasn't at "Kastrychnitskaya" subway station on the day of explosion, and knew no suspects.

Senior Assistant Prosecutor of Minsk on Legal Services, Information and Public Affairs, Sergei Balashov explained that Myechyslau Hryb had been summoned as a witness, according to RIA «Novosti» news agency.

As Telegraf previously reported, the explosion occurred at «Kastrychnitskaya» subway station on April 11. As a result, more than 200 people were injured, while 13 people died. Criminal proceedings were instituted under article «terrorist act.» The KGB and the Prosecutor General of Belarus refused to disclose the details of investigation, including the names of suspected terrorists, as they believe that it could «create an additional threat to life and health of the Belarusian citizens.» In this regard, the KGB promised to reveal the names of terrorists only at the end of the investigation.
