Explosion in Minsk Subway: 11 Casualties — Photo, Video

Monday, April 11, there was an explosion at the metro station "Kastrychnitskaya" in Minsk. "The reasons are unknown; rescuers have been sent to the scene," told in the Minsk city administration of Emergency Ministry. According to witnesses, the station "Kastrychnitskaya" and "Kupalauskaya" covered with smoke. Bloody people are coming out of the subway. There are casualties. The subway constructions haven't collapsed. The explosion caused 11 deaths.

According to the Telegraf correspondent, the staffs of the ambulance and all the victims have been sent to city hospitals. Doctors couldn’t provide any specific information, including the number of victims. TV channels report about more than 80 injured; 35 of them have received medical assistance on the spot, about 50 people have been taken to hospitals.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred in the last carriage, moving towards the station «Institute of Culture.» The cause of the explosion hasn’t been determined yet.

Firefighters, ambulance and police have arrived at the scene. Minsk subway has been completely closed for some time. There were about 15-20 ambulances, police, the KGB and the Ministry of Emergencies at 20:00 at the scene.

Law enforcement officers have blocked the entrance to the station and have forbidden using photo-and video cameras.
