The first two dozen sites appeared in the list of restricted access to the Internet service providers ("closed list"). This was reported in the State Supervisory Department for Telecommunications of the Republic of Belarus of Ministry of Communications and Informatization (BelSSDT). Lot's of Belarusian service providers and mobile operators have already been implementing filter access to sites.
Resources on the list are of «extremist or pornographic direction,» BelSSDT said. These sites appeared in the list about a month ago, BelSSDT added, tttt_tel.
The «closed list» contains those websites which are not registered in BelSSDT (overseas). «Open list» (Belarusian sites) is posted at BelSSDT site and accessible to everyone. It is still empty.
Filter access services are provided by many Belarusian operators at the request of users. Access to the educational institutions and certain government agencies’ resources is limited on a permanent basis.
