The cost of air travel to South-East Asia for Belarusian citizens should be substantially reduced after signing the code-sharing between the national air carrier of Belarus and Turkmenistan. This was stated by the director of the Aviation Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus Vadim Melnik.

Conclusion of code-sharing agreement between Belarus and Turkmenistan was approved by the Heads of State during the recent visit of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Ashgabat. Vadim Melnik said that according to the agreement the matter would be finally solved until June 1, BelTA informs.

«The two parties, having concluded an agreement, can use substanial transit opportunities. Turkmen citizens can travel to 14 countries in Europe via Minsk, the Belarusians — the whole of South-East Asia, including China, Thailand, India, via Ashgabat,» said Vadim Melnik.

«It is an economically attractive line. Belarusians still experience discomfort, flying to South-East Asia via Moscow. And here is the direct flight, with a much lower price,» added the head of the Aviation Department.
