Agricultural Production in Belarus to Grow by 50% over Five Years

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Foodstuffs also said that in the next five years, the volume of agro-industrial complex production should increase by 50% in Belarus. Vasily Pavlovsky said that agriculture should grow annually by 15-17%. In this case, the task is not only to increase production, but to preserve quality and also to sell processed products not the raw ones to foreign markets, BelTA informs.

In addition, Vasily Pavlovsky said that significant work’s to be done in agro-towns setting up. Thus, it is necessary to expand the production and delivery of social services in agro-towns so that the life won’t differ much in urban and rural areas, and people will gladly drive to work but live in the village, the official explained.

Vasily Pavlovsky also said that this year’s crop indicators had been fully achieved, except for the production of flax and potatoes. However, the deputy minister noted that, according to the data of October 11, more than 150 thousand tons of potatoes had been exported this year, while last year — only 26 tons.
