Foreign currency may come up in exchangers in May. This has been reported by Director General of the foreign exchange control of the National Bank of Belarus Anatoli Moroz. According to him, adequate dollar rate is Br3.8 thousand. "The course, now exhibited in the OTC market, is overvalued," said a spokesman for the National Bank.

He’s noted that the hype around exchangers was created by people themselves, warmed by the media. «If people had bought the currency and had given the money in the banking sector, there would have been a different response,» says Anatoli Moroz, BelTA informs.

«We are waiting for external borrowing. First of all negotiations with the Russian Federation have been carried out. Russia requires a program of measures to overcome the crisis, which has already been submitted. This issue must be resolved next week and maybe in May. Thereafter all steps will be taken to stabilize the foreign exchange market in the Republic of Belarus,» said the representative of the National Bank.

According to him, the currency proceeds in January amounted to about $2 billion, as much as in February, while in March — more than $3.5 billion. «The economy, so to say, has already begun working.  We follow similar pace of currency proceeds in April,» said Anatoli Moroz.

He said that the population purchased $50 million in January 2011, in February — $12 million, and in March — $700 million despite the fact that the Belarusians have bought 1.5 billion for the whole 2010. Meanwhile, many people keep their money in bank boxes. «One will hardly find free cells in the banks,» said the representative of the National Bank.
