Foreign investors invest less in Belarus

In 2010, foreign investors have invested in the real sector of the Belarusian economy, except banks, 9.1 billion dollars, that is 2.3% less than in 2009. Most investments in the country were from the economic entities of Russia (72.1%), Austria (10%), the Netherlands (3.5%), Cyprus (3.5%) and UK (3.1%).

Foreign investors in 2010 preferred to make contributions to the transport sector (4.83 billion, or 53.2% of total investments), industry (2.07 billion dollars, or 22.8%), commerce and public catering (1,32 billion, or 14,6%), and general commercial activities on the functioning of the market (326.2 million dollars, or 3.6%),  reported the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus. 
In 2009, foreign institutions invested less money in the Belarusian transport and trade and catering (3.57 billion dollars and 945.9 million respectively) and more money in industry and general commercial activity (2.82 billion dollars 1.48 billion, respectively).
