Chairman of Russian Students' Union, Adviser for the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, Alexei Kozak, received a letter from the head of press service of the Liberal Democratic Party of the Republic of Belarus, Natalia Gololobova. The letter reaffirms the party's position on the need for quicker recognition of independence of self-declared republics of South Ossetia and Abkhazia by the Republic of Belarus, the press service of Russian Students' Union informs.

«In 2008, the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus, Sergei Gaidukevich, and the entire party recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia and notified Russia’s embassy in Minsk as well as mass media about that. On August 21, 2010 in Minsk, there was held the Congress of Liberal Democratic Party, during which the LDP leader, in the presence of diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Belarus, in his speech openly stated about recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia once again and  about the inclusion of the issue on establishing a single currency with the Russian Federation and the Confederation with Russia in his election program for upcoming presidential elections», reds the message, MI informs.

At present, Abkhazia and South Ossetia were recognized by only four states: Russia, Nicaragua, Nauru and Venezuela.
