In Belarus the prices on nonfoods in May of this year in comparison with April grew by 1.1 %, having increased from the beginning of the year by 4.7 %. The prices for gasoline (17 %) and medicines (6.8 %) have grown from the beginning of the year most of all. According to National statistical committee (Belstat), the price for gasoline increased by 6.9 %, in May in comparison with April, and gasoline price in the country increased by 28.5% from May 2009 till May, 2010.
The prices for footwear and hours have increased less of all by 0.7% and 0.8% respectively. The prices for carpets and carpet products have decreased from the beginning of 2010 by 0.1%.
The prices and tariffs index for paid services in May of this year in comparison with April amounted 0.4%, in comparison with December of the last year amounted 2.7 %.
In housing and communal services sector, payment for household services from the beginning of this year has increased by 5.7%. The prices for electrical, gas and water supply and premises maintenance remained unchanged, while price for heating increased by 4.8%, and payment of other services increased by 0,9 %.
Inflation from the beginning of the year amounted 4 %, Belstat
The price index on provisions in May of this year in comparison with April amounted 0.7 %, in comparison with December of the last year amounted 4 %. Thus the prices for provisions in a year (from May 2009 till May, 2010) grew on 7.6 %. Besides, inflation in the country during the first five months of this year amounted 4 %.
According to Belstat, the price for sugar has increased most of all from the beginning of the year (by 27.8 %), potatoes (by 17.3 %) and fruits (by 12.1 %). In January-May this year the price for vegetable oil increased by 6.9 %, for tea by 6.4 %, for confectioneries by 5.8 %, for butter by 5.7 %, for milk and dairy products by 5 %, for eggs by 4.7 %, for cheeses by 4.2 %.
The prices for sausage goods and smoked foods have increased by 3.3% from the beginning of the year, meat and bird have gone up in price by 3 %, tobacco products by 2.4 %, grain by 2.3 %. Bread and bakery products, as well as alcoholic drinks have become more expensive by 1.6 %. According to statistics, the prices for fish and seafood and canned fish have insignificantly increased by 1.4% and 1.2% respectively.
Only the prices for pasta, wheaten flour and vegetables decreased by 6.7 %, 0.6 % and 0.3 %.
