Gazprom Completely Renews Gas Delivery to Belarus

In the morning on June, 24th, the chairman of the Gazprom board of directors Alexei Miller told the president of Russia Dmitry Medvedev about repayment by Belarus of the debt for gas deliveries in January-April. In connection with repayment of gas deliveries by Minsk at a contract price Gazprom made a decision to reinstate gas delivery to Belarus in full", the head of the Russian holding stated.

Natalia Timakova, the Press Secretary of the Russian leader, informed on it, RIA Novosti says.

As Telegraf informed, Belarus transferred 187 million dollars of indebtedness repayment for the Russian gas on Gazprom account at 16:00 on June, 23rd. Belarus also delivered the ultimatum to Russia with a demand to repay the indebtedness for gas transit during five months 2010 at a rate of 260 million dollars till 10:00 a.m. on June, 24th.

Otherwise the First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko promised that Minsk would block transit of the Russian hydrocarbons to Europe. Also Vladimir Semashko emphasized that debt repayment for gas was a Belarusian token of goodwill. He said that Minsk borrowed money «from the friends» for this purpose.
