The Russian gas holding Gazprom finished reduction of gas delivery to Belarus by 60 % at 10:00 Moscow time on June, 23rd. The chairman of the board of the Russian monopolist, Alexei Miller informed on it following the results of meeting of emergency response centre for situation with gas delivery to Belarus.

Gazprom threatened earlier to reduce gas delivery to Belarus every day by 15 % from the planned volume. The first time delivery was reduced by 15 % in the morning on June, 21st, then gas delivery was reduced by 15% in the morning on June, 22nd.

Russia explains reduction of gas delivery by unwillingness of Belarus to repay debts for gas at the rate about 190 million dollars, accumulated in January-April this year, since Minsk paid for gas at the last year’s price.

In response to these actions of Gazprom, the president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko ordered to block transit of the Russian gas to Europe on June, 22nd. The Belarusian leader promised to cancel his decision, after Russia repaid Belarus the debts for transit for five months of this year. They reached about 260 million dollars on June, 22nd.
