Glushakov Withdraws His Candidacy from Presidential Campaign

A potential presidential candidate of the Belarusian Party of Greens Yuri Glushakov withdrew his candidacy from the presidential race due to not collected one hundred thousand signatures in his support. "I declare that I as a challenger will not continue to participate in the presidential campaign," Yuri Glushakov said.

According to the politician, the Belarusian Party of Greens failed to gather the required for nomination number of signatures. However, Yuri Glushakov said that it was «not a defeat of the Party». 
«We do not need to bluff either on the stage of collecting signatures, or in the future. And we do not recognize corrupted and fake politics», the politician said.
As Dzmitry Kuchuk, the head of Yuri Glushakov’s action group, told the Telegraf correspondent, BPG had not decided yet whether to support the candidacy of any other contender for the presidency.»We will announce on this decision after the official registration of candidates,» Dzmitry Kuchuk said.
According to him, BPG and Yuri Glushakov personally are ready to provide all possible support only to the candidate who finds it acceptable for a performance of the main requirements of the Party: ban on a nuclear plant building in Belarus, abolition of contract system and restoration of the revoked privileges, transition to a parliamentary republic, moratorium on privatization of the  important enterprises, adoption of the law on expansion of the rights of labor collectives.
