Gold and Monetary Reserves Decreased in May by 4,2 %, National Bank

The international reserve assets of Belarus, calculated according to the standards of IMF, accounted 5.79 billion dollars on June, 1st of this year, having decreased by 253.4 million dollars (4.2 %) in May. The data of National bank of the country testifies to it. This year the amount of gold and monetary reserves (GMR) of Belarus has increased by 139.9 million dollars (2.5 %) from 5.65 billion dollars on January, 1st, 2010.

According to National Bank data, about 1.3 billion dollars were included in GMR. Belarus received 625 million dollars for sale of the shares of the Public Corporation «Beltransgaz» in February and the credit of IMF at amount of 670 million dollars in March, AFN informs.

Without the received means and in a case of repayment of the unsettled debt for Russian gas, which is 200 million dollars for four month, gold and monetary reserves of Belarus might have decreased this year by 1.35 billion dollars.

According to National Bank data, monetary reserves accounts 3.12 billion dollars, having increased by 607.4 million dollars (24.1 %) from the beginning of year. However they have decreased by 221.1 million dollars (6,6 %) in May.

Other reserves decreased in May by 38.4 million dollars (2.8 %) to 1.32 billion dollars on June, 1st. Thus from the beginning of year their amount has decreased by 411.4 million dollars (23.7 %).

Monetary gold increased by 20 million dollars (2.6 %) in May. It accounts 786.6 million dollars on June, 1st. However the gold volume has decreased from the beginning of this year by 34.5 million dollars (4.2 %).

According to the data of National Bank, special drawing rights accounts 556.8 million dollars on June, 1st in comparison with 578.4 million dollars in the beginning of year.
