Gross Foreign Debt of Belarus Reached 55.4% of GDP

Gross foreign debt of Belarus reached 55.4% of GDP ($31.71 billion) on April 1, 2011 versus 52.2% ($28.51 billion) at the beginning of the year. This was proved by the Belarusian National Bank's data.

Gross external debt amounted to $3.34 thousand per capita against $3.007 thousand on January 1, 2011, AFN.

According to the National Bank, external debt service required $1.27 billion (9.6% of GDP or 14.3% of exports of goods and services) in the first quarter of 2011, of which $1.03 billion was paid on the principal debt, and $238 million — interest payments.
