MEP from the UK, Daniel Hannan, appealed to the head of European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, and other European parliamentarians with a speech connected with the latest resolution on Belarus. "While I agree with a lot of points in our resolution, I ask whether we have a right to teach Belarus and read a notation regarding the lack of democracy in Belarus", said the British politician.

According to Daniel Hannan, in a recent discussion of the Belarusian issue in Strasbourg, there was found a lot of problems within the EU, as well as that the EU can not read «lectures on democracy» for Belarus, informs the Belarusian service of Radio Liberty.

«We complain that Belarusian Parliament is weak and unable to work, but look around — we just can not take a decision on one or another issue», said the British politician. «We say that although Belarus holds election, but at the time, it do not comply with democratic norms. But we hold a referendum, and then pay no attention to its results. »

«We reproached Belarus with the presence of Soviet bureaucracy, but we, ourselves, saved our agricultural policy, social system, 48-hour work week and the remnants of euro cooperation apparatus. It’s not a surprise, that old Communist parties were heading a campaign to expand the EU if their countries made an application … They, probably, see it as a returning home», said Daniel Hannan in his speech.

«I remember the horrible scene from Animal Farm film, where animals looked at people and pigs, then back to people and realized that they no longer can tell who is who», summed up the MEP.
