The colony of bats settled in a private house in Brest. Under the approximate data, it totals more than 100 specimen. According to the experts, unprecedented heat made the animals to choose a new residence.
The conditions of the private house are ideal for bats. «Here they feel comfort: there is humidity and they are protected from heat», Maria Demyanchik, the senior lecturer of zoology and genetics department of the Brest State University, says, «CTV» informs.
According to the experts, the skyscrapers are also convenient for bats. It is convenient for them to fly off therefrom. Now the experts mark three zones in which the bats give troubles to people, notably Brest, Brest Voblast and Byaroza.
Bats used earlier to settle in the people’s houses, however, this year the quantity of such cases has essentially increased. «Uneasy conditions of the last winter became the reason of such behaviour. The specimen which didn’t fly off staid for wintering. They actively bred in our territory. Therefore the given population lives on one place all year long that is not typical for these animals», Viktor Demyanchik, the deputy director on scientific work of Paleski Agrarian and Ecological institute of the National Academy of Science of Belarus said.
The experts of the Ministry of Nature at the moment develop actions which will help to resolve the situation, «Narodnaya gazeta» informs. However, scientists say that there are no occasions for strong anxiety. «Bats don’t attack people and don’t bite without any reason. They bite only if they are in danger», Maria Demyanchik said.
Besides, inhabitants of the private house in Brest where the colony of bats had settled, found the positive moments in this case, since harvest mice and mosquitoes disappeared in the house. In an hour one bat eats about thousand insects.
