Honorary Consulate of Croatia Opened in Belarus

A new office of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Croatia in the Republic of Belarus opened in Minsk on March 1. The director of the Croatian company Autocentar-Merkur Vitali Liubetski took charge of it. Office was opened by Director of Europe and North America, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Croatia, Alexander Hein, as well as deputy chief of the Main Department of Europe of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Malinovski.

«The Republic of Croatia is interested in the intensive development of relations between Belarus and Croatia. Opening of the Honorary Consulate is the first step in this direction,» Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Croatia in Russia and Belarus on concurrent, Nebojsa Koharovich.

Meanwhile, despite the opening of the office, all visa issues remain under the Croatian embassy, which is currently in Russia. The objective of the Honorary Consulate is solely the contribution to the development of business and cultural cooperation between the two countries, «Ejednevnik

The ambassador said the prospect of opening a diplomatic mission in Minsk, capable of issuing visas for Belarusian citizens and performing other consular functions, depends on the citizens’ intensity. «If there are tens of thousands of trips per year, we are sure to seriously consider the possibility of execution of visa formalities in Minsk. Meanwhile we will continue doing in our embassy in Moscow,» the diplomat noted.
