"Horizont" Heads Top-10 Loss-Making Belarusian JSCs

Managing company "Horizont" is the most unprofitable Belarusian open joint-stock company. According to the Ministry of Finance, the ten unprofitable JSC are also Svetlogorsk pulp and board plant, Beryoza Combine of Silicate Articles, "Borisovky" pig-breeding complex and Vityaz JSC.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the losses of «Horizont» amounted to 19.1 billion rubles (more than $6 million) in the first half of 2010. Unprofitability of Svetlogorsk pulp and board plant was 13 billion rubles, Beryoza Combine of Silicate Articles — 11.1 billion rubles, «Borisovky» pig-breeding complex — 10.3 billion rubles and «Vityaz» JSC — 10.3 billion rubles.
The top list of ten most unprofitable Belarusian joint stock companies include also Beltorgreklama (7.7 billion rubles), Grodno Building Materials Plant (6.1 billion rubles), Kamvol (5,2 billion rubles), Brest Carpets (4,7 billion rubles) and Promagroleasing (4.2 billion rubles).
The unprofitable enterprises of Belarusian electronic industry are Gomel Radio Plant and Raton JSC (Homel). Their losses amounted to three billion rubles.
Also, according to the Finance Ministry, in the second quarter 2010 the losses of Motovelo JSC (Minsk) were 1.6 billion rubles and the losses of Brest Household Chemicals Plant were 137 million rubles, «Zautra Tvayoy Krainy» informs.
Moreover, according to the Ministry of Finance, two out of five JSCs, which the Belarusian authorities plan to sell in November-December 2010, are also working at a loss. Thus, the losses of Bobruisk Machine Building Plant were 2.3 billion rubles, and 547 million rubles of Volmet JSC. The other three were profitable in the first half 2010. Profit of Barhim JSC amounted to 609 million rubles. Lida foundry-mechanical plant earned 418 million rubles, and Rechitsa Textile received 158 million rubles.
