President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the fact that his elder sons occupy responsible positions in the government service, is not a manifestation of "nepotism". "Some people say that I've developed nepotism. What is nepotism? I have no family, only children, who, irrespective of their age, serve the state. This is my country," the Belarusian leader said.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, the essence of his work as president of Belarus is to «raise the level for the presidency so high for nobody to bring it down.» «They’ll change Lukashenko and compare the following rulers with the first president. And I want to make the followers feel uncomfortable to do wrong things,» the Belarusian leader said.

In regard to his sons, Alexander Lukashenko noted that their career was predetermined by their father’s high post. «Unfortunately, they haven’t made a career. Their career has been determined by their father,» newspaper «Litovskij Kurier» quotes the president of Belarus.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, it was important for him to engage his sons in the affairs of the state. «You know perfectly well that I could have put my son in the best position. Or he could have become a businessman, too. But, no. Go ahead! You should bring the issues of the society or any single person to me. That’s the way to the president. That’s his job,» Alexander Lukashenko told about his elder son Victor, who’s in charge of the national security in Belarus.

I don’t Know what «Privacy» is, Lukashenko

At the same time Alexander Lukashenko noted that it’s hard for him to talk about his private life. «When you ask about my private life, I immediately start thinking, what «privacy» is. Frankly speaking, I do not know what «privacy» is. I live in the residence with my baby. I’m protected as President, no much though. There is only one person at my place, who links me with the world,» Alexander Lukashenko said.

«How there can be a personal life?» I have no idea what a personal life is. Today I’m going to pick up the baby from the kindergarten. This is probably a personal life? But it’s just an instant,» the Belarusian leader said.

«I would not say that I have something besides sports in my personal life. I’ve probably already stiffened so much for fifteen years, that I simply do not understand what a personal life is. I think I have focused mainly on work. I have no friends — it’s probably not acceptable for the president, because friends sometimes behave different,» the Belarusian leader added.

«Responding to the question of my personal life, I do not want to seem somehow disinterested and dedicated to nothing but work. No. I just say honestly: «I don’t understand what it is,» Alexander Lukashenko said.
