December 20 President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko admitted allegations of corruption, concerning him, as hurt-sounding . "Despite my tough character, I am a person vulnerable, many people know it," the head of state said. According to Alexander Lukashenko, he has to tolerate nonsense of those, accusing him of corruption, despite the fact that he has "never taken someone's possessions and tried to make his living with his own hands and head."

As reported by the Presidential Administration, Alexander Lukashenko denies reports that he allegedly has $9 billion.

«My dear people, find and take this money,» Alexander Lukashenko said, noting that U.S. President George W. Bush had already tried to find it at the time.

«It’s a lie; we can’t, despite the great desire, to steal $9 billion. It is impossible even in a richest Russia,» BelTA quotes the head of state.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, corruption and theft in the country are only possible in case of a large-scale privatization, actively supported by officials, as the property market is always evaluated as follows: the company can be assessed of $2.5 billion instead of $2 billion with $500 million left to share. However, there was no large-scale privatization in Belarus, and there’s no natural gas and oil here to steal something. «What can one steal from TV-sets, tractors or cars? It’s just a meager profit from production. Can one take this profit away from the people? It won’t do,» Alexander Lukashenko said.

«I’ve never told a lie to my people. I only did good to the people and brought money to this piggy bank,» the president added.

Moreover, Alexander Lukashenko confessed that he had never been tempted by wealth. «I’ll never try this fruit, no matter how sweet it is. I was elected president in the impoverished and disadvantaged in the country of the 1990’s, do not you forget about it? The confidence of the people will always be the greatest value in life for me, and I will sacrifice all I have for the sake of my people. It’s not pathetic, not big words; it is my whole life. I will follow this way, whatever it might take,» the president said.
