President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko denied the information of Wikileaks site on him possessing 9$ billion and, thus, being the richest man in the country. "Find it (the money), please, and share only 1% with me, 99% — leave it to yourselves ... Let's do it, $9 billion is worth these efforts," Lukashenko said to reporters on Sunday, December 19.

«If we find it, women will be given a little more than men,» the president added.

Let’s recall that presidential elections are underway in Belarus.

Polling stations in the country opened at 08:00 and will run until 20:00. Nevertheless, as reported by the CEC head Lidia Yermoshina, the presidential elections in Belarus can be considered as happened.

In accordance with the law, elections are recognized as legitimate if they involve more than 50% of the active voters. According to the CEC, the voting lists include about 7.095 million voters.

«If we had 46% (votes) at 12 00, now we can say with confidence that 50% of people have already voted,» Yermoshina said at a press conference in Minsk.

The head of the CEC noted that the elections were taking place without significant irregularities. «Only one complaint on the fact that observers were not allowed at the polling station, has been received today for many years,» the head of the CEC said.

This is the fourth presidential election in Belarus. The list of candidates for the presidency contains ten people, including the incumbent head of the republic, Alexander Lukashenko, who became the country’s leader in 1994 and was twice reelected in 2001 and 2006.

To win the first round a candidate must receive more than 50% of all the votes. If a second round is needed, it will involve two candidates and the winner will be determined by a simple majority.

The ballot also includes an option «against all» besides the names of the candidates.

Central Election Commission of Belarus accredited 930 international election observers and about 18 thousand domestic observers. More than 600 foreign journalists will cover the elections.
