In Belarus, the Men Earn a Third More than Women

In general, the wages for men are a third higher than for women in Belarus, despite the fact that there are more economically active women in the country than economically active men. It is reported by the National Statistics Committee.

According to Belstat, the biggest difference between «male» and «female» wage is observed in the field of public health. Last year, in united sphere of public health, physical education and social welfare the men got 60% more than women. In absolute terms, these are 1.28 million rubles for men and 794.6 thousand rubles for women, Tomorrow of your country informs.

According to statistics, the next by the level of wages gap are unproductive non-manufacturing public services. Here, the men are paid 57% more than women. In education, the men earn 27% more than women on average.

According to the National Statistics Committee, the most minimal wages gap between men and women is observed in the construction sector. Thus, the average salary of women in 2009 amounted to 1.46 million rubles here against 1.48 million for men.

In the timber industry, as well as in agriculture, the differences between «male» and «female» wages are less than 1%. Meanwhile, the data show that in the industry, the men got 40% more than women, although the last category makes up more than a half of industry human resources. The same proportion of men and women’s salaries is in such single out by Belstat industry as general commercial activity.
