Belarus to Build Flats Factory Cost almost One Billion Euro

In Belarus, it is planned to build flats factory cost up to 900 million euro. Companies from Russia and Italy are competing to construct it, the CEO of Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ), Anatoly Savenok, said. The competition to select an investor for the construction of a new plant has already been hold, to the date there selected three aspirants.

«Now, we have specified a position, and by early October, we must receive concrete proposals of these potential customers with calculations», the CEO of BMZ noted.

Moreover, he emphasized that the basic requirements for potential partners are «direct investment, but on an equal footing, availability of raw materials — one of the main factors, and support with exports in the early stages of the joint venture functioning», PRIME-TASS informs.

The names of companies — potential investors have not been disclosed yet. «It will be a joint production, there are proposals from the Russian Federation and from Italy. When a partner is selected, we will announce the company’s name», Anatoly Savenok said.

Estimated investment in production will reach 900 million euro. About 400 million dollars to be spent on the purchase of equipment, the rest of money will be spent on the development of infrastructure: construction of the railway, additional energy supply, treatment facilities, provision of technical and demineralized water.

It is planned that at a new factory the annual production of hot-rolled sheet will amount to about 600 thousand tons. «Main markets: up to 400 tones — is domestic consumption in Belarus and 200 tons — for export, with investors’ approval. We consider the possibility to reach the production of one million tons at the second phase», Anatoly Savenok said.
